Token Gosney went to hang out with Jesus on November 30, 2017 at 2:03 PM. He was a little over 9 years old. Token came to us as an outside cat in November 2009. He would hang out with me outside and bite me on the knees. These were love bites because I would pet him and feed him. When it became cold outside, I opened the garage for him so he had a place to sleep. When we moved to the beach, he enjoyed playing on the beach with the other cats in the neighborhood. He would leave the occasional bird on our welcome mat at the front door. It was a nice gesture. When we moved again, we finally made him an inside cat. It took him a long time to get used to this but I think he appreciated it. When he first started staying with us inside, he loved to sleep right against me showing his love for his daddy. He was the only cat in our house of multiple cats that would sit in my lap and accept my loving kindness for him. During his short life, he loved to chase other cats, play paws, swat at me with his huge claws, and play chase with his younger sister later in life (she usually won this game). One of my funniest memories of him is his determination to drink from the faucet when you turned it on. He always loved to be in the sink. -Kevin

Token was outwardly a tough boy, but had the sweetest heart. When he was an outside cat, he would bring me birds most mornings after I took his sister to school. I always let him be the one to enjoy them, however, on this one particular morning he brought a mother bird and baby bird. As he devoured the baby bird, he looked at me, and then looked at the mother bird. I was a little unsure of what to do next. I knew the mother bird was for me, so I said "Thank you! It looks really yummy" and took it inside. Token seemed pleased with my good decision. Although Token loved being outside, he became pretty acclimated to the luxuries of indoor living. Token loved to bite my hands when I would pet him, and swat my feet when I walked by him. He liked to sleep curled up next to me too. Obviously, he loved birds, but he loved turkey, cheese, and catnip too. Oddly, he also loved pancakes with syrup, he didn't get them very often, but when he did it was definitely a treat for him. He was precious, and I miss him so much.

Token fought a hard battle most of this year, and didn't feel good much of the time. He was a fighter though! Token didn't want to give up when the odds were against him. He surprised a lot of people with his tenacity. It was often difficult for him to sleep comfortably. At night we would listen to Christian harp music on YouTube. I would put my phone next to him, and within a few minutes he would relax, curl up and fall asleep. His best friend and canine brother Sam left in August, we know he was sad when he left, and it gives us joy knowing they are playing together again. -Jennifer
