Streak came to me about seven years ago after our male collie Toby had passed away. I had my sweet female black lab Hollie still with me. She became Streak's beloved companion.
Streak was born in 2005. He had spent all of his life in foster homes including one where he was abused by a man. Streak was about eight when he came to live with my husband and me. He and Hollie were inseparable. She passed four years ago, and Streak's new love was Penny. She also passed in 2018.
Streak and Penny were allowed to come inside where they became King and Queen of the House. Once Penny passed, Streak became the sole ruler. He loved to sleep on his pile of blankets and beds in the corner. He enjoyed running about the yard before his arthritis worsened. But in his last years, he enjoyed his comfortable bed, pats and hugs, his yummy meals, and our companionship and that of visitors.
Streak went to live with Our Heavenly Father, His Loving Son Jesus, the angels and all of his fur baby friends in Heaven including Hollie and Penny. He passed on June 2, 2020 after a long illness with dementia and oncoming cancerous tumors.
Also known as Mr. Dog and King of the House, Streak will be remembered for his loving companionship and his antics in letting us know when he had to go outside or that he was hungry. He will be remembered for coming in the kitchen while I was cooking and whining for the human food or that it was his dinnertime, too. He was the most verbal dog and vivid dreamer of any dog I have known. He talked a lot because of the Beagle in him and ran, barked and twitched in his sleep.
Rest in peace, Streak, and run with your friends and play with the angels! You are now pain free forever!
